26. On-Job-Preview - OJP : On-Job- Preview is a process in which the employer gives an opportunity for the new employee to get to know the work environment, job related scenarios and organisational perspective before joining. This process can be applied to many jobs in an organisation unless any sensitive products/services/work involved. To be able to implement this process there must be a set of non-disclosures in place. This process would ensure that the employee joins the organisation with more clarity of information both positive and negatives than based on their own preconceived perceptions without OJP.

Is OJP for Every job or certain job levels/job grades?
ReplyDeleteDear Charles, Thank you for your question. On-Job-Preview works well with Junior Level/1st Time Job Holders. However, based on the seniority and confidentiality that one need to maintain for the Individual/Organisation this can be modified to suit. Objective of the program would be to bring a realistic view of the job one is going to get into.
ReplyDeleteIt is said that "In work, we have the possibility of discovering ourselves"- on the job preview may help towards that as well. I have been through the husys website which is very comprehensive. Whether on the job preview or actual job, if one does not like one's job, don't you think there should be career transition services on the lines of www.careershifters.org or www.passioncatalyst.com. The whole purpose of HR is to make people productive- why are these services not offered in India. My blog blink has details of my published articles on the subject.
ReplyDeleteDear Curt Rosengren, Thank you for the inputs.. In most cases the Career Transition refers more provided by organisation when they are making people redundant as Outplacement. My experience from the Indian context most of the career transition services happen informally between the experts and seekers of support. There is a special need for providing such services in more organised fashion to help people to move and achive their objectives. thanks, GR Reddy
